Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “Clearly the UUP are totally out of their depth now. Judging by what Basil McCrea said on the Nolan Show, they are clueless and are making things up as they go along.
“If the Ulster Unionists do not support the justice devolution vote in the Assembly they will rightly be blamed for future problems because of their start-to-finish negativity. People, particularly their own supporters, will never forgive them if they say no in the vote next week.
“The ‘Ulster says no’ mentality is a sad relic of the past. The Ulster Unionists will become a political irrelevance if they vote no next week. People may see the political wilderness as the UUP’s future home, but they have a serious responsibility to do what is right for the people of Northern Ireland. People want them to be constructive and will be angry if they sleepwalk into a situation that puts the peace process in jeopardy.”
