Tribal unity is negative for Northern Ireland

Deborah Girvan, Strangford Alliance Party activist, has called on political parties to focus on the real issues which affect people’s lives in Northern Ireland rather than concentrating on developing tribal pacts.

Responding to comments made by Simon Hamilton, DUP MLA, about building unionist unity between the DUP and UUP Deborah Girvan said, “Instead of focusing on tribal pacts, Northern Ireland politicians should be concentrating on the important issues of building our economy, sorting out our public finances, and improving health and education. Political parties in Northern Ireland should work together for the good of all the people rather than focus on building political empires which separate and divide communities.”
