Former Alliance Party Leader Sean Neeson MLA has been reappointed to represent Northern Ireland on the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities in Europe, part of the Council of Europe.
The East Antrim Assembly member was appointed by the Secretary of State, having already served for four years having been put on to the body by the Assembly.
Alderman Neeson stated: “It is a great honour to be reappointed to this important body.
“Specifically, I have been the UK’s main representative member of the Committee on Sustainable Development, one of the most important issues the organization deals with. It is essential that issues such as these are dealt with on a pan-European basis.
“I look forward to continuing to serve to the best of my ability.”
