Neeson – increase in jobless figures deeply worrying

Alliance Enterprise spokesperson Sean Neeson MLA has stated that the new jobless figures are deeply worrying. New figures show that the number of people without work has increased by 1,900 in May to 48,000. It is the smallest rise in the last seven months but was only slightly down from April’s total of 2,000.

Sean Neeson MLA said: “This is deeply worrying that the number of people without work has again increased by such a large amount.

“The Executive could be doing a lot more, especially in helping to create jobs in the construction sector.

“These figures show that despite some saying we are over the worst of it, the economic downturn is still having a major impact on Northern Ireland’s economy.”
