Condemning the incident, the local representative added: “I am deeply saddened by what has happened in South Belfast, an attack which has been distressing for everyone in the community.
“I understand that several people forced entry into the property and the victim was taken away from the scene to hospital, where he later died from his injuries. My thoughts are with his family.
“Those behind this brutal attack do not represent South Belfast and they must be urgently apprehended by the authorities to face justice before the courts. I would ask anyone with information to come forward to the police.”
