McCarthy – Tractor car bomb shows extremely worrying trend

Alliance Chief Whip Kieran McCarthy MLA has stated that a possible car bomb that may have been attached to a tractor in Sixmilecross, shows an extremely worrying trend. It is believed that a magnet that was found on the underside of a tractor might have been part of a car bomb that fell off. The tractor’s owner was a former member of the security services.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “If it does turn out that this was a car bomb attempt then it shows that these dissidents have been able to operate in nearly every corner of Northern Ireland in the past week. It is extremely worrying that they have been able to specifically target people in several counties who are associated with the security services.

“The dissidents behind these car bomb devices have no care in the world for the lives of people in our community. I am extremely angry that these thugs are attempting to mount a campaign of death and injury. I am asking them to stop their reckless actions and get involved in the peace process that everybody else has signed up to.

“If anybody has any information about this latest incident then they must contact the police.”
