McCarthy says it’s vital that local football can access funding

Following an IFA meeting last night in which proposals which could have put in jeopardy a reported £23m of funding were withdrawn, Alliance Culture, Arts and Leisure Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has called for everything possible to be done to ensure the funding can be provided as soon as possible.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “We need to see the IFA’s review into its governance completed as soon as possible and all criteria met so that this funding can be accessed quickly.

“This funding is vital for football and we need to see all necessary actions taken urgently so this cash can be provided. Investment in local football is very important for spectators, clubs and the IFA. There is a large amount of money set aside for football here and I hope they can capitalise on this opportunity.”
