McCarthy says Executive must focus on protecting health services

Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has expressed shock and annoyance at news the South Eastern Health Trust is considering closing beds and cutting the Accident and Emergency night service at a new hospital in Downpatrick. He has called on the Stormont Executive to focus immediately on protecting and improving our health service.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “The Executive parties must focus on important issues like this instead of spending so much time playing political games.

“Downe hospital only opened last June and it would be a disgrace if the facility is not used to its full potential.

“People have been patient with the Executive parties and now want the delivery of improved services. These parties must not continue to fail the people of Northern Ireland.”
