Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “This is deeply tragic news and it will have shocked the whole community in Newtownards. I wish to offer my deepest sympathies to the family and friends of the girl who died. To think that someone so young has passed away in circumstances like this is extremely sad and one can barely imagine the grief caused to those who knew this girl.
“I would ask anyone who can help the authorities establish the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident to contact police immediately.”
