McCarthy comments on NI swine flu death

Alliance Health spokesperson Kieran McCarthy has stated that the authorities must continue their vigilance against swine flu following the news that a woman in Northern Ireland has died from the disease. She was the first person who contracted swine flu to die in the country, after a soldier from Coleraine died in Surrey from the disease last month.

Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “This is sad news that Northern Ireland has had its first victim of swine flu who died in the country. My thoughts go out to the family of this woman at this time.

“It is essential that all organisations involved in the fight against swine flu continue their strong strategy against this disease. The Health Minister must be given all resources that he requires to deal with swine flu.

“The public must be kept informed to reassure them that all it being done to combat the spread of this disease.”
