Chris Lyttle MLA said: “As more and more people live longer, we must change our attitudes towards the employment of older people. It is important that we utilise workers of all ages. Everybody can play their part in boosting the economy. It is important that we address the problem of unemployment and economic inactivity across all age groups.
“Older employees can also play a role in passing on their experience and skills to the next generation of workers.
“By continuing in employment, it can improve older people’s mental and physical health. I hope the relevant policymakers will take note of this report.”
