Long condemns latest security alert in East Belfast

East Belfast MP Naomi Long has condemned those behind the second security alert to strike East Belfast in two days. The Alliance MP was speaking as the Abetta Parade area of her constituency was sealed off on Tuesday, close to where a viable device was discovered the previous day and situated close to Elmgrove Primary School.

Naomi Long MP said: “This is bringing further unneeded disruption to the local area. Alongside these two incidents, two further instances took place in East Belfast this past weekend. It is troubling that those involved seem to have no understanding of the lack of support their actions have or of the disruption they inevitably bring.

“I hope those behind these incidents will be brought to justice and I would encourage anyone with any information to bring it forward to the police.”
