Lo says Executive is in turmoil over police threat housing cash crisis

Alliance Social Development Spokesperson Anna Lo MLA has said the Stormont Executive is in turmoil over the cash crisis in the Sped scheme and said that the Social Development Minister and Finance Minister need to come together and resolve the problem urgently. A lack of funds is preventing a police officer who faces a threat from having his property bought by the government.

Anna Lo MLA said: “This is a disgraceful situation and the Stormont Executive is in real turmoil over it.

“Margaret Ritchie and Sammy Wilson need to get round the table and hammer out a deal to ensure that this police officer and his family are able to avail of the Sped scheme urgently. If they cannot solve a problem like this quickly and effectively, how can they be relied upon to run the country?

“The DUP and SDLP are playing the blame game on this issue and this is totally unacceptable. We need action now to ensure this police officer and his family can have their house bought by government.”
