Dunlop sadness over Harryville school closure

North Antrim Alliance Representative Jayne Dunlop has expressed sadness at the news that St Mary’s Primary School in Harryville, Ballymena is closing. Over the last ten years the school has suffered a number of sectarian attacks including four serious fire bomb attacks and having a live device thrown at it.

Jayne Dunlop said: “I was extremely sad to hear news of St Mary’s Primary School having to close.

“It has been a valuable part of the community and is a very good school.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all the staff who have worked at the school down through the years on the excellent service that they have given the local community.

“This school managed to survive a number of horrific sectarian attacks in the past, but it has now unfortunately been forced to close. This will be such a devastating blow to the local community.”
