Dunlop: Lives could have been lost in Ballymena hate crime

Alliance Ballymena Councillor Jayne Dunlop has condemned a petrol bomb attack on a house in Cullybackey on Sunday morning, which the Police are treating as a hate crime. Three petrol bombs were thrown but only one ignited. Two men have been arrested. One individual was inside the house at the time but was uninjured.

Cllr Jayne Dunlop: “Lives were put at risk by those behind this petrol bomb attack. There can be no justification for this incident.

“My thoughts are with the man who was inside the house at the time of the attack. No one deserves to be attacked in their own home.

“This attack comes as the draft Racial Equality Strategy is out for consultation. This incident shows how much more work is needed in this area and why it is important that a robust strategy is in place.

“I would urge anybody with any information about this incident to contact the Police.”
