The company has announced the branch is set to close on Friday December 5, with all customers automatically moving to the Donegall Square West branch. An ATM will remain at the current location.
Naomi Long MP said: “This is a disappointing move by Danske Bank, leaving many local people with further distances to travel to access the same financial services.
“I recognise Danske Bank’s attempts to secure some local access for customers with the retention of the ATM, but this is very limited access and won’t aid the many customers who still prefer to deal in person with a member of staff.
“With more and more services moving online Danske Bank has a duty to ensure its customers are fully aware of the online and phone services available. I will be in contact with Danske Bank in the coming days to discuss the further safeguarding of the area’s remaining branches.”
