Dickson hits out at Nesbitt after latter breaks meeting confidentiality

Alliance Chief Whip Stewart Dickson has hit out at Ulster Unionist Leader Mike Nesbitt after the latter broke confidentiality around the first negotiations on the Programme for Government.

Mr Dickson was speaking after Mr Nesbitt rushed from this morning’s meeting in Stormont Castle to speak to media, claiming Alliance had been offered the Justice ministry.

“I understand this morning’s meeting was clearly laid out as a confidential one between the parties to discuss a range of issues relating to the Programme for Government. For Mr Nesbitt to hurry out and go straight to media claiming to know all sorts shows the flippant attitude of the UUP towards the talks and their level of commitment.

“The UUP haven’t yet declared whether they will be in the Executive or not. Unlike others, Alliance attended this morning’s talks with the correct attitude and willingness to get a result for the people of Northern Ireland, rather than a few headlines.”
