Councillor Neil Kelly said: “This is great news for Antrim Town. The new owners plan to develop the centre by bringing in new retailers to fill some of the vacant units in the centre.
“This development will also bring new jobs to the town and increase the number of visitors to Antrim Town centre. The additional visitors to Castle Mall will also benefit other local traders in the town.
“All in all, this is very good news not only for local businesses but for all of the people in Antrim, as it will not only provide more variety for the shopper but will also hopefully provide some much need new jobs as well.”
Antrim Town Alliance Councillor Oran Keenan said: “The future looks very bright for Antrim. I hope that the Department of Social Development will provide funding for projects in Antrim town to help boost businesses and attract more business.
“Town centre redevelopment can really help Northern Ireland grow our economy.
“Antrim is the county town and I believe that DSD funding could have a very positive outcome for us.”
