Speaking after the Council’s annual general meeting, the local Councillor said he was ‘honoured’ and ‘delighted’ to represent the borough on behalf of the Alliance Party.
“It is a great honour to have been selected to serve as Deputy Mayor and I look forward to promoting the Alliance Party’s vision of a shared society during my term in office,” he said.
“Lisburn and Castlereagh is growing and strength and prosperity and I plan on being an extremely effective and positive representative for the Council, reaching out to everyone in the community during my year as Deputy Mayor.
“Over the coming year I hope to build on the strong representation the Alliance Party has been providing for everyone across Lisburn and Castlereagh, with a particular focus on ensuring the borough is open and welcoming for all communities and I’m looking forward to working alongside the new Mayor in achieving this.
“Across Northern Ireland Alliance is making a big impact at local government level and I’m delighted to be joining Deborah Girvan, the new Mayor of Ards and North Down, in showing inclusive leadership for all.”
