The local woman secured her first gold medal after victory in the visually impaired super-G in Sochi.
Alliance Councillor Andrew Muir, Mayor of North Down, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and I want to congratulate Kelly Gallagher on behalf of everyone in North Down.
“We have another sporting hero to be proud of and as Mayor I will be ensuring Kelly receives a fitting reception when she returns home.
“Kelly has brought great excitement to the area and hopefully will have inspired a new generation of paralympians. She now deserves to be remembered with the sporting greats from Northern Ireland.
Local representative Scott Wilson added: “Kelly is an inspiration for us all, demonstrating what can be achieved through hard work and determination.
“I hope she will achieve the same success in another four years”
