Webb condemns second pipe bomb attack on community worker’s home

Alliance North Belfast representative Cllr Billy Webb has condemned those behind a pipe bomb attack on a house on Glandore Avenue in the early hours of Tuesday. Nobody was injured but the bomb caused damage to a window. It is the second pipe bomb attack on the house of community worker Mary Kelly this year.

Cllr Billy Webb said: “I am sickened that these people have attacked the home of Mrs Kelly for the second time this year. She is doing amazing work at bringing together both sides of the community, but these people are intent on stopping that work.

“She has been attacked before and I hope that the reaction of the local area which has given its support to her, will show that we will not be intimidated by these thugs.

“I would urge anybody with any information about this attack to contact the police. These people do not realise that Northern Ireland has moved on from the Troubles and there is no wish for this sort of violence to continue.”
