The woman was shot in both legs at the property at Ballyronan Park, Rathcoole, as she tried to escape from the flat after two masked men forced their way into the home. A 40-year-old man also sustained minor injuries.
Councillor Billy Webb said: “Guns have no place in our society and there can be no justification for this attack.
“The people who carried out this shooting have no regards for the well-being of others and I hope both victims will be able to make a recovery from the injuries he sustained. My thoughts are with them.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
