Start tackling division to ease health funding problems

On the day that Health Minister Michael McGimpsey is to outline his budget plans Alliance Health Spokesperson Kieran McCarthy MLA has said that to ensure value for money we must end segregation in our society. He said that if the duplication of services is stopped we can better protect frontline services.

Kieran McCarthy said: “There can be absolutely no excuse now for not ending segregation. We need to stop duplication to help safeguard vital frontline services.

“This is one of the most challenging times facing our public services and our politicians must have a clear and radical vision to deliver the best value for money possible.

“To fail to tackle division would be catastrophic for our public finances. The Minister must also examine the administrative side of the health service and examine how efficiency can be improved in this area so that frontline services can be maintained.”
