Reservations about representing different constituencies – Neeson

Alliance Party Leader, Sean Neeson, has no objections in principle to the Disqualifications Bill to allow Members of Dáil Éireann to stand for elections to Westminster and the Assembly, but he has reservations about the practicalities of representing different constituencies.

Mr Neeson says-

“The prime responsibility of any elected representative is to directly represent his or her constituents in the body to which he or she has been elected.”

“To represent a constituency in Northern Ireland in The Northern Ireland Assembly, or in Parliament in Westminster, and at the same time represent a constituency in the Republic of Ireland in Dáil Éireann does not provide good value for money.”
