Representatives express sympathies after infant’s death

Alliance representatives Councillor Stephen Martin and Judith Cochrane MLA have given their sympathies to the family affected by the tragic death of a four-year-old boy in Lisburn.

Oliver Scullion died at Hilden Brewery today (Thursday). The independent brewery, established by the Scullion family in 1981, is the oldest of its kind in Ireland. The Health and Safety Executive is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death.

“This is a deeply tragic event,” said Alderman Martin.

“The Scullions are well-respected members of our community and words cannot express the sadness we all feel on the passing of young Oliver. I was at the brewery a few weeks ago and, as always, it was clear the family are the driving force behind the success it has become.

“To lose a child is something no-one should ever have to endure.”

Ms Cochrane said she was shocked by the death.

“I have worked with the Scullion family over the past few years to champion the success of a local business and I wish to pass on my sympathies to them.

“My thoughts and prayers are with Oliver’s family, as well as all the staff at the brewery and the wider community during this deeply upsetting time.”
