The local Councillor was speaking after a teenage boy was stripped to his underwear and assaulted on Friday.
She said: “I must condemn this disturbing incident and I hope the victim is able to make a full recovery from this ordeal.
“This blatant violation of a teenager’s human rights cannot become common place in North Belfast, which the majority want to remain as a welcoming place, open to everyone.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible. This type of behaviour must be stopped and those responsible removed from the streets immediately.”
