Alliance Councillor Maíre Hendron said: “I would like to see the Mountpottinger Police Station site released as soon as possible for community use.
“There is a massive demand for social housing in the area and re-development of this nature at the site would help maximise the great potential that this land holds.
“People should not have to wait on lists when they have urgent housing needs. We need to make the most of land that is being freed-up through the rationalisation of the police estate. I believe that creating social housing in this site would be great news for the Short Strand area and for the rest of East Belfast.”
