The local Alliance campaigner was commenting after police revealed graffiti had been daubed on the school in late March, adding her concerns for the impact the incident would have on students.
Patricia O’Lynn said: “This damaging attack only served to disrupt the education of local pupils and my thoughts are with the pupils, staff and families affected.
“Castle Tower Special School is highly regarded within the local community and people have been left genuinely shocked that a school in the process of a major new build could have been targeted this way.
“Those behind it clearly have nothing better to do than cause distress for others and I would appeal for anyone with information to contact the PSNI immediately, allowing those responsible to be dealt with by the courts.”
