East Antrim MLA Séan Neeson said: “This is yet another devastating blow to the local economy. The East Antrim area has been hit particularly hard, with the potential job losses at the Ryobi plant in Carrickfergus, and now this news at FG Wilson in Monsktown and Larne.
“There can be no good time for the announcement of redundancies, but Christmas has got to be the most difficult of the year to face such bad news. The relevant Stormont Ministers must act quickly and put in place support and training measures to assist those affected.
“This has been a sickening week for our economy and I want to see the Northern Ireland Executive do more to stem this haemorrhaging of jobs locally.”
