Neeson says electricity price cut not good enough

Alliance Enterprise Spokesperson Seán Neeson MLA has welcomed electricity price cut but said there should have been more of a reduction than the 5% announced.

Seán Neeson MLA said: “While this 5% cut is welcome, I would like to have seen a much more significant reduction in electricity prices.

“Northern Ireland is one of the most expensive, if not the most expensive place for electricity consumers around the UK. This situation is simply unacceptable and given the difficult economic times we find ourselves in I would like to see NIE act urgently to redress this disparity.

“I would also like to see the Energy Regulator and General Consumer Council take a more robust approach to bringing down the price of electricity here.”
