McDonald condemns attack on SDLP canvassers

Alliance Mid Ulster representative Michael McDonald has condemned those responsible for the petrol bomb attack on the car of a group of SDLP canvassers in Coagh on Thursday night. The petrol bomb was put under the car but did not ignite, no one was hurt during the incident.

Michael McDonald said: “This was an outrageous attack on a group from a political party who are preparing for a democratic election. We must not let those opposed to the peace process deter anybody from standing or taking part in elections.

“This was attempted murder. I am just thankful that nobody was hurt in this incident.

“This must have been a traumatic experience for these people, I hope that they are able to quickly get over their ordeal.

“If anybody has any information about this attack then I would urge them to contact the police.”
