Alliance Oldpark representative James McClure has condemned the device discovered at Ballysillan Presbyterian Church on Wednesday. It is not clear at this stage whether the device is viable or not.
James McClure said: “I am appalled at this latest security alert in North Belfast. It is the latest in a string of incidents and I would have thought that the people responsible would be aware of the public opinion by now. These incidents are not being tolerated and again, residents and commuters have been disrupted.
“It is particularly disturbing that a Church has been targeted, especially since its Minister, Rev. Norman Hamilton, has been working to bring communities together for a long time.
“I would appeal to anyone with any information at all about this latest incident, to contact the police.”
