Strangford MLA Kieran McCarthy said: “Local healthcare staff should be praised for these improved statistics. I would however say that there must be no complacency, and the Health Minister must strive to continue this improvement.
“The important study released today will hopefully provide a strong foundation for good practice for the future.
“I would also like to take this opportunity to praise the work of another organisation, the Health Promotion Agency, and I would like to see them continue to be supported in their excellent work.
“They have been at the forefront of the anti-smoking campaign and their continuing efforts are absolutely invaluable.”
