Kieran McCarthy MLA who lives in Kircubbin said: “To be confronted by armed masked men after a hard days work is a callous and unforgivable crime that must be condemned.
“This man must have been tailed by the robbers who knew that he would be carrying a substantial sum of money, which I am sure must be a scary thought for him.
“Unfortunately this is not the first time that this type of attack has happened in the Ards area.
“I would urge anybody with any information about this robbery to contact the police.
