Kieran McCarthy MLA said: “It is a real blow that we could potentially lose up to 14 libraries in the Greater Belfast area. While everyone understands the need for rationalisation, I hope that this does not have a negative impact on the service.
“Officials said this part of strategic plans but I sincerely hope this can deliver a better library service.
“The Chief Executive confirmed that there will be no jobs lost, and I will follow this matter closely to ensure that this is the case. I also emphasised the need for better provision for blind people and people with disabilities.”
