Dr Stephen Farry MLA stated: “Alliance firmly believes that there is the necessary confidence right across the community for devolution to occur now. This is evidenced by the recent opinion poll results in the Belfast Telegraph.
“There is also an appreciation that devolution would not destabilise the Executive, and instead is seen as essential in order to provide stability to a fragile powersharing coalition..
“It should also be recognised that confidence building is an ongoing process which is linked to delivery by any new Department of Justice and also an improved and more cohesive performance from the Executive.
“It is in this context that agreement on policies for this new Department and progress on a shared future are essential.”
