Councillor Nuala McAllister said: “This type of sectarian attack has no place in our society and there can be no justification for this attack, with the aim of those behind it to intimidate one section of the community.
“I must also condemn the attacks on the PSNI officers tasked with restoring peace to the area. The officers involved were simply trying to do their job to protect the community.
“I would urge anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
