The North Belfast Councillor was speaking after a 28-year-old man was stabbed close to the Shore Road. Following the incident police arrested a 33-year-old man.
Councillor Nuala McAllister said: “I am shocked and horrified at this vicious attack and must condemn it. My thoughts are with the victim, his friends and family and I hope he has a speedy recovery following this terrible ordeal.
“Knives are dangerous weapons that are readily available and we all have a duty to be on guard when it comes to this type of crime. I would urge anyone with further information on this attack to contact the PSNI as soon as possible to aid them in their on-going investigation.”
