Anne Wilson selected as Deputy Mayor of North Down

Alliance Councillor Anne Wilson has been elected as Deputy Mayor of North Down at the Council’s Annual General Meeting.

The long-standing Councillor for Bangor West takes on the role during the final year of North Down Council – before its merger with Newtownards – and has promised to play her part in promoting a positive, inclusive society across the Borough.

Councillor Anne Wilson said: “I am absolutely delighted to take on the role of Deputy Mayor of North Down and am dedicated to working for everyone across the Borough.

“On behalf of the Alliance Party I will work with the Mayor, Councillor Peter Martin, to ensure North Down continues to grow and develop to its full potential – attracting inward investment, enhancing shared spaces and promoting our local economy, arts and culture.

“Last year Alliance Mayor Andrew Muir showcased what a truly united North Down could look like. I will continue to celebrate our diversity and work hard with my Alliance colleagues to tackle the issues that matter most to local people, with the aim of securing the shared society we all deserve.”
