East Belfast Alliance MLA and former player at Shorts Football Club Chris Lyttle has express disgust at an incident in which two staff were assaulted during a robbery at Shorts Sports and Recreation Club on the Holywood Road last night.
Chris Lyttle MLA said: “This must have been a terrifying ordeal for the people present at the time and my thoughts are with the staff who were assaulted as they recover from this experience and with everyone involved with the club.
“This was a despicable attack on hard working staff and a cowardly act against a club with a rich history of social and sporting provision to East Belfast and beyond.
“I am a former player at Shorts Football Club and I simply cannot believe that this has happened.
“I have nothing but contempt for those who were involved in this and I appeal to anyone with information on this incident to contact police immediately.”
