Lyttle congratulates Bombarbier on aircraft order

Chris Lyttle MLA has congratulated Bombardier Aerospace after the organisation announced its biggest ever aircraft order for 100 Challenger Jets worth a minimum of £1.3 billion, possibly rising to £4.5 billion. The order, from the NetJets company owned by US businessman Warren Buffett, is also the biggest order in the history of Bombardier.

Alliance MLA Mr Lyttle said the move would secure a number of jobs at the East Belfast-based Bombardier.

Chris Lyttle MLA said: “This is extremely welcome news for Bombardier and East Belfast. The company is a major employer here and this will now ensure workers’ jobs are safeguarded.

“The news is a massive boost to Bombardier, and shows the faith international companies have in the company and their workforce to be able to deliver their products on time and in perfect order. It is also a positive reflection on Northern Ireland, showing the world we are open for business.

“With this sort of move, we can help maximise Northern Ireland’s economic potential and continue the on-going growth of high-skill, high-value jobs in our society.”
