Chris Lyttle MLA said: “Flooding has been a major concern for many residents in the area. We have seen numerous cases of sewers overflowing after heavy rainfall that caused large amounts of damage.
“I have been raising this issue, along with other Alliance representatives, with the relevant authorities for a number of years..
“Many residents were living in fear of heavy rainfall encase some insurance companies may refuse to compensate flooding victims due to the repeated flooding or that the companies may not renew their cover.
“This announcement will be a welcome relief to local residents but we need to see more schemes put in place to improve our sewerage infrastructure that in many circumstances are not up to standard.”
