Alliance Justice spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has said there is no place for so-called punishment attacks, after a man was shot in a paramilitary-style attack in North Belfast.
The 30-year-old was shot in both legs in Velsheda Court in Ardoyne yesterday (Monday) about 9pm. His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
“There is no excuse for this sort of action and I condemn it utterly,” said Mr Lunn.
“People taking the law into their own hands and bringing violence to our streets need to stop immediately. Local people do not want to see it and they have no community support.
“I would encourage anyone with information on this incident to contact police immediately.”
