Lunn saddened at loss of 40 jobs at Montupet

Lagan Valley Alliance MLA Trevor Lunn has expressed sadness at the loss of 40 jobs at the Montupet car parts plant in Dunmurry. He said that the Stormont Executive’s measures to stop job losses have been largely ineffective and questioned whether Ministers were up to the task of protecting the economy from the worst effects of the global downturn.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “I am deeply concerned at the loss of 40 jobs at Montupet. It is a very important part of the economy in this area and these redundancies will cause much distress locally.

“The Stormont Executive’s actions to curb job losses across this region have been largely ineffective. Ministers need to be brave and adopt radical policies to prove they are up to the task of protecting our economy.

“The relevant Executive Ministers must now move to provide adequate assistance and support for those affected by this latest round of job losses.”
