Trevor Lunn MLA said: “We need to redevelop the Maze site as soon as possible to ensure that the economic potential of this area can be met in a timely manner.
“While I am pleased that the Maze Redevelopment Corporation is progressing, there has been a serious element of stagnation in all this.
“The Maze project is symptomatic of the Northern Ireland Executive. Such potential and very exciting plans, but the courage and vision does not exist to deliver.
“I asked about the viability of the whole project in the absence of a sports stadium or an equivalent major anchor tenant and am disappointed that the Junior Minister did not address the point. We will reserve judgement, but the costs may be hard to justify if the site is not fully utilised and I continue to think that the stadium decision was disastrous.
“This site has sat unused for too long and Northern Ireland deserves better than more delays.”
