The incident forced pupils at Christ the Redeemer Primary School to evacuate the premises, after a suspicious object was discovered outside the school fence. It has since been declared a hoax.
The Lagan Valley MLA said: “Those behind the incident have shown absolutely no regard for the local community, or the disruption caused.
“It is particularly disappointing to see a school targeted in this way, with teachers and young pupils going about their daily routine forced to suffer the trauma and fear brought on by the evacuation.
“Those behind the incident don’t speak for the whole community and I would appeal for anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible.”
