Lunn hails Integrated Education Week and says we need to tackle division

Alliance Education Spokesperson Trevor Lunn MLA has welcomed the launch of Integrated Education Week and said that more sharing and integration in this sector could help save much of the £1 billion wasted every year on segregation. He attended the launch of the initiative at Stormont today.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “This is a very positive event and it shows how far integrated education has come over the past three decades, despite what appears to be continued resistance from other sectors and the Department of Education.

“It’s very important that people consider integrated education for their children. Integration delivers improved community relations and it also delivers better value for money for everyone. The duplication of services does not deliver efficiency and we need to look at creating a genuinely shared society instead of maintaining costly divisions.”
