Lunn congratulates students on A-level results

Alliance Education spokesperson, Trevor Lunn MLA, has congratulated students who have received their A-level exam results. In Northern Ireland, 29.9% of students received an A or A*, which was above the average for England, Wales and Northern Ireland of 26%.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “I would like to congratulate all of our students who are receiving their exam results today. After two years of hard work, they should be proud of what they have achieved. I hope that everybody receives the results that they needed.

“It is fantastic that yet again our students have outperformed their counterparts in England and Wales. We should also praise our dedicated teachers whose role in these excellent exam results often goes unnoticed.

“There will however be a number of students who do not get the results that they required to get their place at University. There are plenty of options for them, so they shouldn’t panic. They should immediately contact their University of choice as some students may be accepted if they narrowly missed the required grades. UCAS can also help those students who have to enter the clearing process if they are not accepted by their University. It is important they enter this process quickly as there are only a limited number of suitable places.

“If students are uncertain of what to do next, they should contact the Department for Employment and Learning’s Careers Service who can provide advice, information and guidance to help people make an informed choice.”
