Lunn condemns Lisburn cash transit robbery

Lagan Valley Alliance Candidate Trevor Lunn has condemned the robbery of a cash box in Lisburn yesterday. He also expressed disgust that a shot was fired during the robbery. The incident took place in Longstone Street in the city just before midday yesterday and police said they were investigating a link between the robbery and a security alert at a suspicious vehicle found in the Glenties Drive area of Lenadoon in West Belfast.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “I strongly condemn this incident and it is deeply worrying that someone was prepared to use a weapon in the robbery.

“This was an extremely wreckless and thuggish act and those involved displayed no regard whatsoever for the safety of the public. I would appeal to anyone with information on this robbery and subsequent events to contact police immediately.

“I would also like to congratulate the police on recovering the cash box and the work they did in investigating the suspected security alert on the car in Lenadoon.”
