Lunn concerned at paramilitary show of strength at funeral

Alliance Policing Board member, Trevor Lunn MLA, has condemned those involved in the paramilitary show of strength at the funeral of Billy Browne, who was in the INLA, Official IRA and Provisional IRA. A masked gunman fired a large number of shots over the coffin in Londonderry last week.

Trevor Lunn MLA said: “There can be no place in our society for masked gunmen and paramilitary shows of strength. This type of activity is completely unacceptable and should be condemned by all. As we look to build a safe and shared future, we must consign this sort of display to the past.

“Guns do not belong on our streets. This was an attempt to intimidate and create fear in the community.

“I am pleased to see that a Police investigation is already underway and I would urge anybody who can help them in their inquiries to contact the PSNI or Crimestoppers.”
